Naval Air Station Banana River, Fla. 7 November, 1945 Dear Dave, Well here is that long promised letter, I said I'd write. I arrived here at this base a couple of weeks ago and was given a crew, a PBM Mariner seaplane and with an instructor proceeded to "check out" in it. After we were well started the Navy in its true traditional manner said NO, we don't want you there and then lowered their points to prove it. So I am now awaiting discharge. Which means that you won't have to send me the Scuttlebutt any longer. Im glad to be getting out but sorry I can't get the scuttlebutt anymore. Thanks alot for sending it every
