Thursday Morning Nov. 15, 1945 Camp John Hay Dear Dave: Well, the army is treating me sort of good at the present time. Believe it or not I'm on a furlough, eleven days and travelling time. And to a pretty wonderful place, at least a nice change from the heat and rain down by Manila. I'm in Camp John Hay, way up on a mountain about 200 miles north of Manila. It's right next to [Baguio?], the summer capital of the Philippines. The weather is so cool, makes me think of fall back home. We have nice beds, pillows, sheets, and we use three blankets at night. Do I ever sleep. Chow is darn good also. Rode most of the way here in a nice new Stateside bus. Really nice and then as we hit the mountain G.I. trucks brought us up. We can play most any sport up here. Have been catching up on my tennis. Yesterday four of us took bikes and went down to [Baguio?]. Very picturesque place, sort of torn up though like every other place.
