be there, & the boat ride takes approximately 21 days. So you can see why Christmas looks like an impossibility. No doubt the Navy boys do not appreciate my calling their "ship," - boats but I really don't mean any offense by it. They told us when coming overseas not to call it a boat as the "Sailors" didn't like it. I believe the last edition of the "Scuttlebut" told me that good old Washington has trounced Fairfield but neat. Other than that I haven't heard a lot except they lost to Muscatine & Ottumwa. Naturally it is football of which I am speaking. Also the last I had heard my home town (West Chester) was only one game away from another Championship, & that was with an often beaten team of Keota. From what I could learn possibilities looked good, but one never knows what might happen. Well Dave time has slipped by & I must be getting along. "Thank you again very, very much for such great kindness." "Merry Xmas" to you all. Your friend, [T/Sgt] Charlie (Red) Thrapp
