22 December 1945 Pearl Harbor, T.H. Dear Dave: Just aline to let you know how things are here in the middle Pacific. As you mentioned in a recent Journal editorial, tension is mounting in overseas camps. Let me vouch on that statement! But I think there are reasons for it. I used to be in the 5th Mar. Div. (Rear Echelon) and when it came time for them to go to the States, here is what happened. They said essentiaal men would go back and the rest of us would be transfered. Since when is a messman essential when they took no cooks? Incidentally the above mentioned man had 13 months
