May 14, 1944 Italy Dear Dad & Mom: It has been a beautiful day here hope it was as nice back home. Got a whole slug of mail today a letter from, Aunt Jennie Mrs. Finch, Milan and four V-mail & two air mail ones from you. The most recent was mailed on the twenty seventh, a V-mail, the mail seems to bunch up that way and I cant figure out which is the quickest first it seems one way and then the other. What is Chuck Hoovers A.P.O. number so I can tell if he is close to me or not. Would like to see him if I could. If Pixlers is the same as mine he wont be far away ask his mother for his group & squadron number. We had ice cream again last night and funny little Italian cakes furnished by the Red Cross. They were very good but not in near as generous servings as I used to get out at Aunt Ethels. Boy I'd like to tie into one of those freezers full, what a hole I could make in it. Just noticed Aunt Jennies letter was mailed May first that's the fastest service Ive had. Noticed in one of our recent editions of the "Stars & Stripes" an army paper, that ration points on meat except steaks & beef roast had been
