May 22, 1944 Italy Dear Dad & Mom: Got another long airmail letter from you today. It was April 28th tho and Ive received several dated later than that, the V-mail mailed the same day came four or five days ago. The dates dont matter Im always so glad to get them, wish I could get off letters toward home as regular but cant seem to. Should be able to find Pixler and Charlie Koeppelas they must be very near me. When I get a chance I'm going on a shopping tour but from most reports, things like I'd want are pretty well picked up and there are a lot of phoney things for sale. I saw that place Pixler mentioned but didn't think it would go thru. Have seen a lot more interesting places since tho, really I couldn't have had a pleasure tour much nicer. Of course it wasn't always the most comfortable but I dont mind that. No, I cant imagine Bob putting out that much energy either. I reckon some native put that out. Wonder where he will end up this time hope he gets a good spot. Did he tell Vivian what he is doing, should be getting a lot of experience anyhow. Wrote to Brad Jackson and Grandma this afternoon so Ive done much better than usual today. The days I miss altogether are why
