May 30, 1944 Italy Dear Dad & Mom: Just remembered today was Jims birthday wish Id thought to at least write him a letter, perhaps I will tonight. Its been a beautiful day here, hope it was as nice back home. The warm weather early this month should have brought on your flowers so there would be plenty of decorations. Got two letters from you today and one from King Sr. Your most recent one and Kings were dated the fifteenth. Gosh that letter that went thru to you in six days surely made good time didn't it. Myra never forgets to bring you a bouquet of early spring flowers does she? Shes a queer one but certainly good hearted. Isnt it funny how those robins always build on top of that wren house, guess its a good sheltered place. All that warm weather with the moisture you've had will surely bring on weeds and quack grass The farmers will have to get their corn in and keep busy plowing for a while. Should have good pasture and hay crops again this year. They are having a good radio broadcast now, some army band and they are really fine. How much of a parade etc. did they have at home expect not so large as usual with the kids being out of school. Tomorrow is pay day so that's something to look forward to. Don't get so much but it's really more than I need over here, nothing much to spend money on, especially as I haven't had a pass and seen nothing to buy.
