June 3, 1944 Italy Dear Dad & Mom: Doesn't seem possible it is June already time seems to fly past when I look back, but when I look ahead seems slow. Things are going fine here and Im getting along okay. There are some nice flowers coming on over here Ive noticed. Great big lilies, white ones, roses those small bushes with the large flowers like we used to have by the lattice fence. Shrubs that look a little like bridal wreath & some with big pink blossoms that are like some we saw in Florida. We have really been lucky the last couple of weeks, theres been a movie every other night, haven't missed a one, plan on going tonight too. Have seen a couple of good ones but most are quite old and Ive seen them before, we do get the news features and sports events that are recent. Wrote to Jim & Irma yesterday & forgot to even mention Jims birthday I thought of it a couple of weeks ago but it slipped my mind. In Irmas last letter she said Rammy had boarded for a few days at school and came home with a bad case of sunburn, bruises from being thrown off a horse and a but on his head where he'd been banged by a ball bat. Sounds like he had a fine time. Did Dad & Bill rent any pasture this year? As I remembered we had quite a few heifers which we kept over and will need some outside pasturage. Our calves this year should be pretty good quality and several
