levelest ground I ever saw. Its just like a floor. The 125th Battalion led the whole bunch and our line was as straight as it could be when we went past the reviewing officers. They were all mounted with Gov. Harding in the center of the group. Then afterwards we were gathered as close together as possible and the Governor made a short speech. He said that the average soldier has plenty of sand but that after anybody had been in this country twenty four hours he couldnt help having lots of sand. And thats surely the truth. Gee, after we get out of here we will be spitting sand for the next six months. Floyd Whetstine had the measles and diphtherea at the same time and he was pretty sick for
