British army is instructing us in the art of trench warfare. And he came around to the gun positions and asked us all kinds of questions. Two men are on guard at each gun position at night. One looks over the parapet into No Mans land all the time - the other challenges everyone coming thru the trenches. If the enemy is seen attacking, the sentry yells "action" and runs to the dugout, which is about twenty yards away, and wakes up the other members of the gun team if they are asleep. The other sentry takes his position at the gun and waits for the command to "Commence Firing" unless the enemy are too close, in which case he opens fire immediately. Sunday we went to the mountains and took a lunch along. Thats the
