Sept 21, 1944 Dear Mother, Just one letter, number twenty-seven, to answer, but they say there are sacks of mail being sorted tonight. I got a telegram from Maureen today saying she was delighted I could come and agreeing on times. I imagine she'll meet me at Gourock. I'm going to take ration coupons from here to feed myself. I'm looking forward mightily to the trip, as you can imagine. The etchings still haven't gone. I have them all ready, & Johnnie was going to take them to London for me, but she went hurriedly & early, so here they are. I guess I'll just wait till I can send them myself when there. I don't know whether or not that will be Sunday night. Tuesday afternoon the Executive Officer phoned to see if Mr. Hall (Carl Hall) could come see me in the craft shop. Col Dyke brought him over and handed him over to me to tell him about Red Cross activities. It turned out to be Carl Hall, who was delighted when I mentioned knowing Ben & Catherine (Webster). He also remembered you and said he'd phone or write you when he got back home soon. I don't
