it and then plastered it with Johnnie's cocoanut. When we finished we took pieces to eight girls along the hall to finish it up. Such squeals of delight! Johnnie had to leave at seven for night duty, so we four played New York rummy for a couple of hours. It was lots of fun. Wednesday we slept till almost noon. Then I washed clothes. At three I walked to Mrs. Hume-Rotherys (Volunteer, wife of Oxford professor) and had tea with her. Then we called on her sister-in-law, an interesting spinster who has refused to be thwarted by the old millstone of caring for one parent after the other and has adopted a rosy, year-old boy. Then we picked up Jennifer, Mrs. H-R's 10 yr old daughter at school. We had a nice supper of dainty, shredded fresh vegetables prettily arranged on a plate, and butterscotch pudding and coffee by the fire. I looked at her husband's very nice water colors of mountains. Art is his hobby and some science at Magdalen College his profession. He is a fellow there. I came home early as I was anxious to get lots done. Tonight I've washed my hair. I'm going to meet Mrs. Goddard at Jean's school for a Christmas program at three Sunday, "nip" home with them for tea and
