Saving...
got some dear souvenir coffee spoons, some for Jay, Polly, & Johnnie for Christmas and some for us. I haven't divided them yet. I worked in the evening. Today I got things started at the shop and then went down in the recommissioned car to meet our new secretary, Shirlea Martin. She seems very nice and just what we needed. She's fresh over, just about two weeks, and has fallen in love with the place. I tended to getting her room and her luggage brought in. Then I took her to lunch, & let her unpack awhile this afternoon while I worked in the shop. (three or four volunteers) I picked her up at four and took her to meet Lt. Hudder, Lt. Miser (the adjutant) and Col. Dyke. They were all in a conversational mood so it took till dinner. We had a sociable glass in the bar with a couple of the officers & dinner. Then Johnnie came in with us for a visit & so did Polly. So goes the time. The pictures are of the sweet rabbit. Isn't he a honey? I do want a rabbit when I get home. Polly has just brought all her Christmas presents in to open. Quite unexpected, but nice. Love, Helen Had to wait till 1981, when we found a white one at Coralville Reservoir.
