Saving...
January 16, 1945 Dear Mother, it's about ten thirty and I'm sitting by the fire in the Jammer's living room. Jay and her brother have gone to bed. The ceilings are high and the blackout curtains are red velvet from ceiling to floor. The [illegible] shimmer softly outside the London traffic purrs on. This morning we slept till ten thirty when Mrs. Jammer brough us breakfast in bed. then we got caol for her fireplace (no maid or help in difficult house to run.) Then me caught a taxi at the corner and went to the Ritz to lunch. The major found us later and we had a lovely meal (about two dollars apiece). The rook was so beautiful, as is the whole hotel. Very elegant guests, too. After lunch we shopped for a book I waited a book on water color technique. I didn't find it, but we did see ever book shop in Charing Cross road. They Jay and I "explored" had tea at Lyons cage and went to the Globe Theater and saw "While the Sun Shines" It is hilariously funny and me enjoyed it a lot. Then we took the underground home. We got home, we had tea and cake by the fire. Tomorrow we are going book hunting again. I got them at Debenhas Freebody. then I'm going to see if I can get some slacks and field jacket like the Invincible [?] girl. Then we have lunch booked at a Spanish restaurant called Marinez. Then we're going to the tower of London. Then we're going to have adate to eat and go see the new play "The years Between". Then we have a dinner ate with a Mr. Wolf, who is an important solicitor in "the City". Thursday we're going to an Italian Restaraunt and new movie. No more till get back.
