Aug 17 1895 Dear Brother and sister I thought I would write you a few words to let you know that we are all well and hope these few words will find you the same of course [Gracie?] wrote and told you about fathers death he got very weak towards the last and was very patient he said he had made his peace with God and wanted to die he knew every body to the last I was not there when he died went up the day I sent your last [illegible] stayed with him a few days he told me i would never see him again When i went home and i never did there was a large funeral all the old Settlers around was there we went [illegible] to the church and had the sermon preached the church
