then back to the garden and we got everything in that it is time for.Have the tomatoes, cabbage, peppers, celery and corn yet to do.It rained a little but we kept right on planting.Ricky mowed the lawn -first time this season. He quit when it rained but said he'd finish the little left here in the back after school tomorrow. Betty is going to tell you my hat is good-looking.I told her you'd have more confidence in her opinion than mine.It really is all right. Mrs.Dewey came over by the fence and visited with me yesterday. She sent you her love.I am going to get another big jar of lard from her. Helen says she is not sure the Minors have a divorce yet but thatthere is trouble there and Ruth was much upset all year. She got her sorority accounts all mixed up and her father had to fix them up for her. Edna Herbst phoned me yesterday to tell me good bye till fall.I didn't get over to Tri Delt(I hoped I wouldn't have to go) because she got the mumps and spent her last weeks in the Hospital.I told her I wasn't much on going places but that I just loved to have folks come out here,so she has promised to come out as soon as she gets back.I told her Helen Focht and I would feed her some well-raised vegetables. Had a long letter from Fran last week. She wanted your address. She is traveling now and was in Fargo,N.Dak. Will stop now and write Nin and Jap a note and send then the picture, then go out and be sociable with my little helper. Lots of love, Mother Just as I folded this the door chimes sounded and I went in the living room & there was little Helen just waking up (when she should have been reading) and on the porch stood Mr & Mrs Parden Charles, Dorothy & Stephen - They could stay only a few minutes - Stephen is cute - & how he has grown! He was on the snuggle bunny - and it is lovely. Charles got an apartment and they are moving soon now - Pardens hate to have Dorothy and the baby leave - Mr P. has been sick but is OK now - The Pardens & Betty all raved about how slim and nice you looked in your pictures with Lindin. For once the photographer caught you in your stride so that your legs looked trim and nice. Monday morning - a home day alone, I hope - am going to clean more house & set out potted plants all day if poissible - More love B.P.F.
