A childish reaction is very common in the people who conceal their age and always pretend to be young or anyway younger. I knew one old lady in Iowa City who died at 92-94 and who kept her age a secret to her death as best she could. If people knew how this folly betrayed them their vanity would make them avoid it.- I improve slowly. I am reconquering bit by bit the territory of life which I lost. I even was freighted to the hospital and climbed up to call on Dean Newburn in his offices.I was tired the next day of course. I hope to get back to at least part work next fall. A long long road a-winding!
  I think so much of you all, my students - friends - intellectual children! Over there over here from India Persia to New Guinea and Iowa City and it helps keep me going and getting better. It is wonderful that a woman can do a direct part now in great events. You will never be the same Helen Fox I knew again and you are different now.
