As long as I was dressed for outdoors I worked in the garage & drained the alcohol out of the car and put it in jugs in the basement - Smells boozy. Won't jack it up for a while for I might be able to drive it again before spring. Radio said they have organized a camera club department at Walter Reed and are asking anyone having extra cameras or supplies to donate them. Grace Mayes called me up Sat. morning - She had gone away for Thanksgiving - had fallen & been in bed several weeks - thought she could get home & had come as far as Cedar Rapids when she had to rest 3 days in the hotel before she could come on. She asked me about you & said to give you her love - I'm going to mail her a box of cookies in a day or so for she can't get out at all yet. Got a box from Grace & Jim today - It had a beautiful "B" in it (Betty & I (wrecked?) it this P.M.). Also (steamed?) brown bread & a box of those hard ginger cookies. I made chocolate drop cookies today - yesterday made ginger cookies and coconut bar candy. Have been trying to do one cookie & 1 candy recipe per day. Betty Jean phoned me today. John had his op and is getting along fine - Grace is with him - B.J. had to come down here to get a lot of blanks filled out for her Green Bay, Wisc job. Goes back to Rochester in the morning.---First half score Iowa 41 - to S Dak. 8 2nd team playing. For the 1st time Iowa has a colored boy center. He's very good - an Iowa City boy. Final score Iowa 87 - S Dak 37. Well that's over - I mailed the box to Min & Jap today - Sent Min a qt of black walnut meats - a plastic milk bottle cap, a carton of bath salts with the cute little scoop on the top - 3 candy bars - Sent the salad set to both of them - For Jap I had a jar of shaving cream - 3 candy bars and the promise of Ernie Pyles "Brave Men". Also sent the Stribley box - It had in it bath salts and
