hear now is going to help them much - Have you seen any of the people released from the prison camps? When you get your money it would be nice to get Marg and Betty something in Paris and mail it directly to each of them. Joseph C. Horsh, who broadcast from Paris tonight told of the flower carts on the streets loaded with lilly-of-the-valley for May day tomorrow - Said it was the custom to give them to friends for good luck for the year - I'm sending you one for good luck too. I had a busy day today - did a dastardly deed, Several years ago Mr. Kozen stuck poplar whips across the back of the garden plot - there are 4 of them - I cut down & up the one by the back corner of the garage - it was about 3 in thick - I went out early so no one would see me. It is now in the basement as kindling and fire place wood. I think I can do another of them without being caught at it. I might even get all four if they go to the Lake - Parts of them are dead and they look horrid and besides the roots are in the garden. Shame on me! I planted a bit more in the garden - When the postman came I quit - Gretchen came soon after, bringing me a pie pumpkin - eggs - 2 qts of milk for cottage cheese and some cactus seed. She has now sold over $250.00 worth of pansy plants - I asked her if she'd trade 2 tubs of manure for a cake - She would, so she took the tubs home with her and will fill 'em and set 'em by her garage so I can get them if she isn't home. I'll leave the cake in the kitchen. Think I'll go Fri or Sat a.m. if roads & weather are good - may take Grace Allen with me if she can go. Rain had been forecast was why I did outdoor jobs first today. It didn't rain but by noon the wind was blowing a gale.
