After a brief lunch I went down stairs and did the washing. Was all done by 2:30 - Packed your box - read a while - Crocheted during radio news - had supper - used zip - took a hot bath - filled out my caning sugar blank - and now am tucked in my little white bed - all nice and clean - got everything done that I could so I won't have to get up early for my over town work tomorrow. Frost is forecast but I didn't bring in the gardenia or guava. Betty Schramm phoned today - they still have their coughs - mine lasted about 5 weeks but theirs are much more durable - Said she thought Mary B. probably kept bring home new germs from school. How does the season & temperature there compare with England? I have a sliver in my hand - I got tangled up in the barberry when I was doing my little unlawful stunt today. The Claxtons of Fayette whose flier son was reported missing along early this year, have now been told he is in a prison camp. Fran is crazier than ever - Helen phoned this morning - Said they were to have a picnic lunch with friends this noon and Fran came out to get in the car just having hysterics - She had thrown the sandwiches in the garbage chute - and was taking the garbage to the picnic - Reminded me of the time you soberly told me you were to put the note on the ash pile and take the empty tire can to Mrs. McKay. Ten thirty and I must read the paper and to sleep - Love to My baby & keep well - Mother
