lovely, lovely spoons - I wept when I saw the "you only" tag on them. I have them lined up on tissue paper on the dining table - I'd fight before I'd let them go out of this house - am especially fond on the one with the thistle handle - there is just a tiny piece of the beading off one of the handles - I have crawled over the floor on hands & knees but can't find it - I know when the war is over it will be very easy to have the jeweler replace it. I can't figure out exactly what all of the shields mean but I've given them a good going over with the reading glass. Isn't that Portsmouth one queer? Most unusual. I like it. Next came the two compacts - for Grace S & Roberta - I have put them in the Christmas drawer - Tell me just where you got them as I think they'll like details. You want them kept here till Christmas don't you? Shall I also hold the ash trays for Betty & Mary? or give them to them sooner? Did they come from London too? Are they made of anything special - like shell cases or such? Next I unwrapped those two little brass (?) heads - ones with horns and one with a big head dress - what are they? Last but not least in that box was the beautiful tea cozy - I wonder you have any eyes left - cute chimney! I thought I'd finish it up today but after I served up the sides, I decided it should have a nice quilted satin lining with cardboard at each end to keep it in shape - I don't suppose I can get satin now so it may have to wait a while. In the top of the last box was "Young Man from Caracas" which I haven't read but want to. What is the little crystal dish with a shield & felt on the bottom? I shall wear the stocking feet which say "Helen Fox" but not the big mesh stockings, which are now in your drawer. The little red felt dog is also in your drawer now.
