5/7/45 Dear Bess, I thought I would wait until I could tell you we had radishes to eat but we are going to have a frost tonight and radishes are just coming up. Strawberrys are beginning to blossom and I just came in from covering them with tar paper. The wind was blowing and it made a nice job to cause swearing. Joe Nye is here and is going to stay till Thursday and spends most of his time in the Greasy Spoon drinking beer and meeting old acquaintances. he was in San Antonio and in real estate business. Edna Dorman and her husband have been in Fayette lately. Don't know whether they are there yet or not. Was down about three weeks ago and
