To day it was too cool & wet to work in the garden so I weeded here and there in the pool yard and sawed branches off some of the trees - cut and wrapped the pieces and lugged them to the basement - Washed the car for the second time this spring. Came in and sewed and heard a wild Cub 13 - Boston 12 game - Cubs behind all the way to the 7th inning - sometimes as much as 6 or 8 runs, then Caveretta got a homer with the bases loaded and from then on they hit like mad. Hasn't any of your forwarded mail caught up with you yet? Sunday Night. 7 P.M. and I am in my little white bed and the rain is dripping softly in the eaves spout. It was nice this morning so I planted the peppers (will get 6 plants over time for early use) - green and yellow snap beans and limas - got through about noon and had just had my first course of lunch which was a glass of cold to-mato juice when Fran & Helen came out - Helen had planned to work but there wasn't anything to do by then and I wanted to hear the ball games & Churchill's talk so didn't want to go out again - We inspected the yard & garden; they came in a while as H. wanted to see my Mother's Day spoons. The ball game was called off in the 7th because of rain but I heard Churchill. Grace Meyers called up to visit a while and the day was done. Now I am about to read "Eleven Came Back" by Mabel Seeley. She is a new one to me but I just read her "Listening House" and liked it - They are both ones Grace Allen got from the library and passed on to me. I return them to this library on my way to the Ration Board Tuesdays. I packed box 49 today (crackers - cheese - wafers - bars - sachet and Bathasweet) and will mail it Tues - Better send me requests - as I'm getting low on them. Loads of love to My best girl Mother
