and to Grace Allen - a library book to return - your box to mail - a bottle to get turpentine in - I couldn't carry all that stuff so I phoned the garage to send a man out at once - Mr. Noll came himself - I rode over to the garage and left it to be fixed while I did errands & Ration Board jobs. Mr. Noll phoned me over there that the middle cell was gone and I'd have to have a new battery - told him to put one in. I got it at 5 and finished up my shopping & on home (cost 12.85) guaranteed for 16 months. Worked on "B" gas coupons today as they have held up sugar coupons for lack of sugar - I got mine last week but tried to get cane sugar today and all I could find was beet. I didn't get it. Thought I'd try North Liberty and other stores before I gave up. No use talking beet sugar just not good for jam - jelly - or Christmas candies. So glad to get the Kodak pictures - That is a darling one of you - Bobby is very good looking and younger than I had imagined him - Nice dogs - and isn't Jay cute? Its a lovely scene - what is the big stone(?) building in the background. I like the shy little boy in the gate - what beautiful country in the distance. Maybe you'd just better locate there and I'll come visit you some time. Who keeps those hedges clipped? I hadn't supposed they grew so late. I stopped in again to ask for your films but they are not here yet. Eleven oclock and I have yet to read the paper - good night & love to my best gal Mother
