11 Isle of Wight, and the head mistress arranged for her to board with this family for the holidays. We had her up to tea, learned that she had been 2 years in Germany, was to spend a year each in England and France, and hoped eventually, on the the strength of her proficiency in languages, to get into the U.S. Diplomatic Service. The people she was with were quite kind but took her nowhere, just in and out of Bagnor(?) (you see, the village of Felpham is about 3/4 mile from Bagnor). I took her to see lovely (Drundel?)
