I have just sent in my subscription for your wonderful "National Geographic Magazine" and am looking forward with keen pleasure to getting, and keeping these papers. Our own geographic magazine is only just in its infancy (they used to have a sort of booklet exclusive to members of the society, and as the society itself is exclusive ..... !) and more or less boring. The "National Geographic" seems to me to have popularised geographic study without, as usually happens, vulgarising it---it holds a nice balance between the lecture room and the drawing room, neither too dry nor too flippant. One
