I am writing on my [bed?] & I feel so cold to-day hope you'll excuse my bad handwriting. I have got no news from my dear ones in Belgium 3 sisters & 3 brothers. I am the youngest of 7 children, my parents died some years ago. I can tell you that a kindest hearted lad & a jack of all trades. Pray that I may do my bit courageouslly, may I assure you too of my prayers & souvenirs. I know little about your good country on which I set foot once, but I love your people as my own for I am a British minded boy ... & now that I have no more use of my 2 vernacular languages I shall soon be able to improve my English & I won't give you one more chance to read funny letter as the one I send you..! With my compliments for a Happy New Year I beg to remain dear Madam Yours most sincerely with kindest regards & affection Bye, bye. G. A. Lorent Freddy. P.S. G. A. Lorent. c/o P.B. 218 London. E.C.1.
