2. When I came back I found my dispensary in a mess the floor had not seen the mop nor the broom for 10 days & I who kill myself cleaning it & polishing the whole time. Oh gratious did I have to rub & scrub today I'll say I had to. I am ever so pleased you sent me some of your [snaps?]. I'll put them strait with my sister's & brother's & best friends on my table. I wish I could send you mine. I bet you would not like it. Curly top & blond hair, it would remind you of the waves of the ocean & give you see slickness the whole time! I would not like you to tell me that. Oh, no. I've got some good taste I must say & am very tidy & adore cleanliness, it goes with my type of work, no use to say. I must add, I am "[fond?] of what I like" ... as they say in England. En francais [rest of sentence in French]. To answer one or two of your questions. My father teached for 42 years in my native town. Southern part of Belgium. His two brothers, the younger of whom still leaves where secular Priests (Roman Catholic). I entered a religious order as boy brother (missionary) without my knowing it much I must tell you. Don't misjudge me if I am clear & opened with you. I never thought I really had a vocation of the kind. But my Sisters influenced me & my parents so much that it so happened. I pray God to lead me & protect me whenever He wants me. I've devoted my younger years doing or trying to do good to my fellow creatures wherever I've been. I must add I've had great consolations relieving miseries often among the poorest class. Ceylon is a wonderful country & there is still a lot to do for those -- cafe au lait -- kind of people. I like them immensely & I must say I was very much regretted when I left the place.
