6/22/44 Dear Helen We have been thinking of you quite a lot since D day and wondering how you are getting along. Our life here moves on about the same. Presume your mother keeps you apprised of the fact that it's garden time in Iowa. I had a little gas left yesterday (last day) and Minn and I went down to see Molly (illegible) Wettenberg at Maynard. She has four boys in active service (marine, Destroyer, sea B. and air plane gunner). She is coming up soon to spend a few days with us and help to get us patched up again. We don't buy anything new unless we have to. Havent heard from your
