July 4, 1945 Trinidad Dear Dad & Mom: It's not an official holiday here I don't reckon, this being a British possession but we are only working skeleton crews in the hangar today and most everyone is off duty. I'm going to work and take a pass someday when there wont be such a crowd, busses will be full, town overflowing, etc. Got the Union yesterday, the twenty eighth issue which is really a late paper, sometimes in Italy when I'd get them they would be over two months old. I'm sorry to hear about the wind storm and am wondering if it did any damage out to my place. If it hit out at Tom Wetherbees it must have been strong over there. That lawn should look like a carpet as many times as its been raked this year. Got a kick out of what Clifford Stirk said about Bob Stone. He gets off some pretty funny stuff at times. He's a good fellow too I sometimes wonder why he hasn't got away from Tony and got a better job. Especially during the war when there seems so many good paying ones to be had.
