Im very near to South America but when a guy is in the army he might as well be a million miles away for you're really tied down. It was pretty coming into port passed by many other little islands which were pretty in a junglish way. Dont like the fog which seems to hang over everything. The special service has a couple of trips, a swimming trip at Tobago and a deep sea fishing trip but when a guy is working they're not available. It's the guys who do the least that get in on all those things, use of day rooms, U.S.O's etc. I don't mind the weather to much down here sweat a lot for sure and am lazy but dont know as I can blame that on the climate. Heard the fellows who were lucky enough to reach the states on the advance echelon are home on thirty day furloughs plus travelling time. More power to them. Will sign off -- Love Johnny
