July 19, 1945 Trinidad Dear Dad & Mom: The radio is going full blast with some hill billy program. I'm surprised how many guys like that sort of thing, theres a regular crowd around it. We're sure getting a lot of good out of the thing I'm glad the special service fellow brought it around. It is now possible to sign up for a three day pass to Miami with travelling time. Of course you'd have to await your turn with those having the most overseas time given preference. Dont think I'll bother to even sign up for if furloughs are ever given it would probably count against it. It could be all right if one lived in Florida and could get home. The fellows who went to the states got thirty days at home but that wasnt counted as a furlough but as a rest period and now are sweating out a fifteen day furlough the lucky dogs. Still havent heard from Bill but imagine he'll be stationed out in the west someplace not far from his home. Got your nice long letter of the sixteenth today, my mail seems to take a little
