July 22, 1945 Trinidad Dear Dad & Mom: I've really been writing letters hot & heavy yesterday and this morning, have written nine letters which is almost an all time high for me, only [illegible] a couple as I stand now. Perhaps I'll even answer them today and get all caught up. Dont remember if I told you or not in yesterdays letter but we had to fill out slips to hand into the orderly room telling how long since we'd had our last furlough, months overseas etc. so maybe later on we will get some time off. Im not building up any false hopes but am hoping. Havent had our mail call yet today so dont know if I got any letters or not, my mail always comes in the morning very seldom I get any in the evening call. We had fried eggs for breakfast this morning which was a treat for usually they are scrambled or rather mangled. Have only had powdered eggs a few times since we've been here french toast quite often and pancakes a few times. Are enjoying some nice church music this morning on the radio. Should go to church but the radio has a regular service a little later so will listen to that. Dont know where the closest chapel is in our area the only one i've seen
