smallpox vaccination did not take. They never do on me; I guess I am immune. The latest "dope" on prospects at the camp is that all men who finish the training will be commissioned. It begins to look, though, as if not many would finish. The efficiency board is eliminating them every day in good numbers. I really haven't much hope of pulling through, but I shall hang on as long as I can. The training will fit me to be so much better as a common soldier if I am drafted or volunteer later. There is a lot of chance in this thing. A little slip may get a fellow in wrong with an officer and cost him his place. One man, I heard, was discharged because he missed the target at range practice. I am glad they were not watching my shooting. I missed several times at the long ranges, as did most of
