almost as much so, I suspect, as my French. I have to bite my lip to keep from smiling, and I have no doubt she nearly chokes at my stuff, though she is always pulling me along very patiently. I visit a class that she teaches at the training camp. Quite unconscious, it appears, of the impossibility of her explanations she will tell her pupils - who know even less French than I do - such things as these: "Quand vous voulez dive,"eggs poached" en Fra-anch you tell it "oefs a la coque." "Dees way you count jusqua tonite." "When you go in the store qu'est-ce que vous divey to the the homme la?" I can't give you the full benefit of my own experiences because I can't duplicate on paper her delightful pronunciation of English. I don't think many of her pupils get a great deal from the explanations but those who comprennant a little enjoy it. We had a few critical moments yesterday when I tried to say something about French idioms and was understood as saying idiots.
