The New Ebbitt Army & Navy Headquarters Washington, D.C. Mailed 12/15/1917 Friday 11 p.m. My dearest, - Here I be, in the capitol of these here United States. It's a very old city, as cities go in our land; I can tell that by the character of the room I have drawn. It has an old marble fireplace, blocked up, of course, old walnut furniture, and water in a pitcher, not pipes. The cost is double what it was in Nevada, Misssouri, and the hotel has nothing on the Mitchell at all. Why, it hasn't even a map of the world in the lobby. But I'm lucky
