Mailed Dec. 16, 1917 The New Ebbitt Army & Navy Headquarters Washington, D.C Dearest, dearest Girl, - This letter - writing is becoming a habit with me - so frequent and so inevitable is it. I hope you like it. Of course, I am enjoying myself at it, but I shouldn't unless I thought I were contributing to your delights. So far it is a rather one-sided correspondence for all I know. My visit at the post-office today was not rewarded. (Sigh). I've been here 24 hours, my dear, and haven't had a word from you. What can be wrong? Today's events came along so rapidly and were so new in their impressions that they are now a rather confused jumble in my
