We get very good liveing [sic. living] now. We draw soft bread 4 times a week and potatoes 1 times and also Caryeat [sic. carrots]. Brine got a box Sunday that was sent to him when we were at Bolivar with a lot of dried fruit in now we furnish the sugar and he does the fruit. We have fire in our cabin so we have pretty good times for a soldier. We drill every pleaset [sic. pleasant] day so we pass the time away. It is about as cold to day as it has been this winter. This is all I can think of this time so I will close. Write soon from your son C A Gates
