Falmouth Va, Saturday May 9th Dear father I have once more been spared through a terible [sic. terrible] battle to write a few lines to you. I am well and all the rest of the boys from our place except Dennis Hess he will be so he can do duty in a few days. He got hit on the arm with a peace [sic. piece] of shell and its swelled up so he canot [sic. cannot] use it much. I don't know as you have got the letter I wrote the 28th. I received yours of the first this morning. I might as well give you a little sketch of what we have been doeing [sic doing] for the last forghtnite [sic. fortnight]. We were payed [sic. paid] off the 27th April an I sent $80.00 to you by Baldwinsville.
