I couldn't get a bit of yarn here Mrs Leverette Brown would knit them if I could get the yarn, she is that dear old lady past 85 who is so wonderfully well preserved, you remember her at the Thanksgiving party we attended at Simcokes She has knit -twenty pairs for the Red Cross. They are doing lots of work here for the soldiers in camp and hospitals. We are so thankful for what the Y.M.C.A. are doing, I went up to uncle Wms the day I got your last letter and read it to them and told others about how the soldiers feel about it. We cant do too much for them when they are doing so much for us We think your letters are wonderful The Editor of the Centinal asked father for them to publish. It is for you to say as to that The little poem you sent will be, if it is not already a popular song with the soldiers. I saw Ira Payton on the street this week He was called here by the death of his sister May. She has had poor health for some time. So young to go out that is what is happening all over these days if it isnt natural it is in war. I belive I wrote you of George Stidgers death, only 58.
