From New York Jan 15, 1917 [note: probably 1918, as they weren't married yet in Jan. 1917] Dear Little Wifey,-- Here I am at the Sanborns' again, all cheered up by your telegram, which was waiting for me when I came. I don't know why it didn't arrive yesterday. I could have used it well. You're much more brave than I am, and you make me ashamed of myself for (shift pens) feeling the least bit downhearted about this marching off to war. I shall telegraph to you tonight to put the kibosh on any unhappiness that my more or less sobby comments in my letter of yesterday may cause. To take up the tale of my adventures where I left off yesterday.--I spent the afternoon strolling about looking
