Daphne, honey, as I poise my pen thinking how I shall start this letter there come tumbling over each other in my mind a score of endearing terms that express the various aspects of what you are to me. You are my dearest, my most beautiful, most adorable, most companionable, most congenial comrade. You are the most interesting and clever girl I have ever known. You are my sweetheart -- truly the most real I have ever had. You are my fascinating mystery and my goddess. You are my ideal conception of what a girl should be in combining sweetness and goodness and wholesomeness with self-reliance and humanness and worldly wisdom.
