in an effort to fathom the wonder of what the gods have wrought. It would be lulled into peaceful contentment, into sweet, luxurious, human delight in your bodily nearness -- in itself quite as great a reason for happiness as any man -- and particularly your husband -- could want. All of this outburst is caused I suppose by my experience of this evening in observing the contentment of another pair of my married friends. I have just returned from having dinner and spending two pleasant hours before the fireplace with Mr. and Mrs. Hinshaw. You were there too. I took your picture with me, and after the Hinshaws had admired your fatal beauty and congratulated me on getting a girl with as much behind her eyes as shows through yours we set the picture on the table beside us.
