my wonderful wife, 'specially since I have no way but through letters to express it. Omitting the interesting details of how we sailed and who is on board and what we've been doing part of the time, I can tell you that the crossing so far has been not 'arf bad, you know. I am cooped in a snug (sh- rather smelly) stateroom with two other fellows. The food is excellent. The weather -- ma foi! that is something else again. It was so cold at first that I nearly died. Then we hit the Gulf Stream and an atmosphere warm enough to permit lounging in deck chairs. I spent nearly all of yesterday so. I was all wrapped in overcoat and steamer rug, but even so I fancy it was much warmer
