Number Four Nearing Port, January 28, 1918. Best Beloved,-- Hours instead of days now measure the time separating us from the solid earth. [cut out by military censor] Of course that means that we shall still have some travelling to do before we are "Safe at the front." Nevertheless it will be good to walk what the sea-sick colored ge'man designated as "terra cotta." The scenery along our way has become rather monotonous -- waves, waves, waves, and leaden sky.
