2 take us on. We were not allowed to go outside the gates. In about three hours we had identified our baggage and were ready to leave. The railway trip was interesting. Even though it is January, the English fields are green, and the whole landscape has the trimness of a well kept garden. At several stations where we stopped a little while we talked with the natives. It was a bit difficult, you know, but we managed to understand most of the English spoken in these parts. Many of our passing friends had never seen American officers before. They asked whether we had any wild buffaloes and savage Indians left. Of course we assured them that the hunting for both is excellent. They were very friendly, though, and we had pleasant talks
