1/?/18 My Dearest,-- Five wonderful letters yesterday and four today so far, including the one to my Seniors. They were delighted, to say the least, and especially where you suggested a reunion after the war; but the true Missouri spirit was uppermost and they heard deep sighs and lamented the fact that Iowa is so far away that we'd never meet again!! I have lied cheerfully to them and said that you are still here. They are going to receive a shock when they find I am capable of lying but I think they'll understand it was for the best. I doubt this "Madame" Ohl's veracity on all
