wierd experience. Everybody was a bit nervous, but there was no sign of panic. It was hard to realize that the peril was as great as it was although the precautions observed forced the fact on one's attention. I didn't go to bed until late and took some little time getting asleep. I confess the thought of being called up any moment to take to the sea in an open boat had no pleasure in it for me. My imagination finally got "fed up" on possible horrors, however, and I have since then felt quite indifferent. There is nothing one can do but await what happens, so why worry? Of course, the ship will get through again just as it always has before.
