conscious of how doubly fortunate I am in getting such a wonderful mother with such a marvelous wife. The officers in the intelligence class have settled down to practically nothing but waiting for orders. There is a rumor afloat now, apparently pretty well grounded, that the orders will arrive today. I have no intimation as to whether I shall be included in the group. If I am, all I can do I suppose is to obey orders, and I shall do so cheerfully in spite of the pain there will be in my heart at the thought of how duty is putting the agonizing miles between my love and me. I know from the tests I have already seen you go through that there is not a wife
