Layfayette Grove Ogal county Illinois April 24th 1849 dear children I once more take my pen in hand to inform you that wee are all well at present thanks be to god for his mercy and we are also hoping that theas few lines will find you in perfect good health Dear children I have nothing of importance to write to you at present for thare is nothing ocurd out hear that is worth informing you of Dear Son I want you to send the money Samuel Keller ows me as soon as it is due for I am in nead of it for bilding a barn this summer. dear Son we have had a plenty of snow last winter it fell between Christmas and newyear to the depth of two feet three inches and lay till the last of february in March we sowed all our wheat all wee have sowed is from forty five to fifty akers wee are now a sowing our oats wee shall finnish sowing it this week wee dont intend to plant our corn this year till the tenth of may and wee have planted an orchet this spring of one hundred and twenty Eight treas all choise frute I paid fifteen cents for every tree thay cost me nineteen dollars and twenty cents Luis patten and his famyly are all well Ruben harlaman and his
